Bulgogi (Korean BBQ)

Preparation Time20 minutes


500g beef chuck
4 Tbsp soy sauce
4 Tbsp ground pear
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp diced garlic
1 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp sesame oil
a pinch black pepper

1. Lean beef chuck or tenderloin works best. The meat should be sliced thin; less than about 1/4 inch. It's advisable to make some knife-marks so it marinates better and is cooked more evenly.

2. Place all ingredients except the beef in a bowl to make the sauce. Stir to homogenize the sauce.

3. Marinate the beef for at least 1/2 hour. Place in refrigerator while it is marinating.

4. Heat a grill to about 400 degF. Place the marinated beef on the grill, and first make sure to brown both sides. Then lower the temperature to about 300 degF and grill until cooked. Bon appetite!
